MCP Medical Community Response Unit is a community interest group established in early 2024.Our focus is on introducing Motorcycle Response Units (MRUs) to medical emergencies in Northern Ireland, an approach aimed at lowering response times, especially for cardiac incidents where time is critical.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to save lives by providing rapid and effective medical assistance. We are committed to utilizing the unique capabilities of motorcycles to overcome traffic obstacles and reach patients faster than traditional emergency vehicles. This agility is crucial in cardiac emergencies, where every second can make the difference between life and death. Basing data from the London Ambulance Service Motorcycle Response Unit, we believe a similar scheme can assist the residents in Northern Ireland at no additional cost to the already stretched budgets of the local Emergency Services.
The MCP Medical Community Response Unit operates on the generosity of our community. We are entirely funded by local residents, businesses, and organizations who share our vision of a safer, more responsive medical emergency system. Your support is the backbone of our operations.
Our unit is powered by a team of dedicated volunteers who are not only passionate but also highly trained, to the standard of those manning an Ambulance. These individuals have undergone extensive training to ensure they are prepared to handle medical emergencies with precision and care. Their commitment is a testament to the strength and solidarity of our community.
We rely on the BMW R1200 RT-P motorcycles for their reliability and ability to navigate through traffic swiftly and efficiently. These motorcycles are equipped with the Schiller Touch 7 Cardiac Monitor, a state-of-the-art device that enables our responders to perform immediate and accurate cardiac assessments on-site. This combination of speed and advanced technology allows us to deliver critical care faster than ever before.
As noted by the emergency services in England, one of the key advantages of Motorcycle Response Units is their ability to filter through traffic with ease. Unlike traditional emergency vehicles that can be delayed by congestion, our motorcycles can navigate through even the most congested areas, ensuring that help arrives as quickly as possible.
